In relation to our desire to be a globally minded local church, Oligos (Pronounced ALL-lee-gos) is the Greek root word used throughout the New Testament to mean…Few in number, small in size or little in degree or intensity.
Why would a church be named “Few”? Our purpose for using this term in our church name correlates to a ministry objective theme passage found in Matthew 9:36-38…
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
As a component of the FindingtheFew ministries, Oligos Community Church is a family of believers that connects around a desire to be (and encourage others to be) “compassionately driven harvesters”. As followers of Christ, we promote Bible truth, influential biblical living, and are pursuing an outwardly focused vision to be involved on a local and global level.
Our goal is to be the few in that passage and find the few to cultivate active, resolute, harvest-minded discipleship.
At present, we are a small church in a new phase of refocusing our purpose and implementing this objective. We believe the Lord has good things in store for our future! Along with the companion ministries of the Missionary Training Program (MTP) and CORE Essential Bible Courses we have far reaching goals being established for years to come. We’d love to have you check us out and join us in these endeavors!
Our gathering times are in a casual, friendly atmosphere on Sunday mornings with a Bible study hour at 9:30 am and a worship service at 10:30 am.
